Michigan State basketball working hard to make up Minnesota game
In the wake of tragedy this past week, Michigan State basketball postponed its game against Minnesota that was supposed to take place on Wednesday night.
It didn’t seem like a big deal at the time because neither team really needed it, but one side does need it a little more than the other. While Ben Johnson said that he wants this game to be played and it’d be good for his Gophers, Tom Izzo has to think that this is a chance to add a win to the resume and get one step closer to he NCAA Tournament and a top-four seed in the Big Ten Tournament.
With those factors in mind, this game does mean a little more than meets the eye.
Fans have been asking about a potential reschedule date and there aren’t many opportunities left that would work for both teams, but that might be changing.
Michigan State basketball working hard to make Minnesota game happen
Moving other games to make room for Michigan State vs. Minnesota is a strong possibility and it looks like changing the date of the Gophers vs. Rutgers contest is an option.
Rutgers and Minnesota play on March 2 and if they move this game up, there are no games between Feb. 28 and March 5 for either team. So let’s say they move Rutgers up to Feb, 28 like the Michigan State at Nebraska game, then you’re looking at a potential date of March 2 or March 3 for the makeup game.
Either way, it seems like both sides want to get this done.
If this can be managed, Michigan State will have a chance to add to its resume before the Big Ten and NCAA tournaments.
