1. MSU earns a double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament

Obviously if Michigan State goes 6-2 in the month of February, that will set the Spartans up for good positioning in the Big Ten Tournament. That would mean Michigan State would be 12-7 in conference play and 20-10 overall.

That would be a great scenario for the Spartans.

If Michigan State does go 6-2 in the conference over the next month, that will set it up to be top four in conference play with one final game with a home game against Ohio State left in March. If the Spartans go 6-2, it shouldn’t matter what happens against the Buckeyes, they will be top four in conference play.

And what happens with the top four teams in the conference standings at the end of the season? That’s right, they earn a double bye in the Big Ten Tournament.

A double bye in the Big Ten Tournament goes a long way. That could set them up for a semifinal or championship game appearance and a better seed in the NCAA Tournament.
