Over the years, Michigan State football has come up with some pretty amazing alternate helmet concepts.

We’ve seen bronze, chrome, and recently even white.

We’ve seen the Spartan logo, Gruff Sparty, a tribute to the troops, script State, and even a neon logo that has drawn some mixed reviews. There has been no shortage of variation when it comes to recent Spartan lids and that range keeps the younger fans happy and recruits seem to love it.

While it feels like we’ve seen every concept the Spartans could possibly offer, “the best is yet to come” according to star linebacker Darius Snow.

What could the next concept be for Michigan State football?

On Twitter, MSU Chief of Propaganda tweeted that Michigan State has the best assortment of helmets in the country. He’s not wrong, the classic green with the Spartan logo, the white with the green Spartan logo, Gruff Sparty, and script State are all elite helmet options.

But Snow replied with something that leaves us all wondering, “what’s next?”

So if he’s talking about a concept that we haven’t seen yet, it makes you wonder if maybe it’s neon-related or maybe the coveted matte black helmets that fans have been begging for for years — or maybe it’s both.

My guess would be a black helmet of some sort which would make for an incredible jersey combination with either dark green lettering or neon.

If you’re wondering what I think would be the best look for a new alternate, I think it would have to be black and neon. We’ve seen the basketball program take on that look and it’s fantastic. Let’s hope the football program follows suit.

It looks like Snow leaked that a new helmet is coming, but what could it be?
