Michigan State basketball: Report card for big win over Michigan
Tyson Walker: A-
I was pleased with how well Tyson Walker played on both sides of the ball against the Wolverines and while I’m tempted to give him an A, I think he just missed that grade because it wasn’t his best shooting performance and also because he had just two assists with two turnovers.
Walker looked like the best player on the floor at times and he made shots that Michigan State desperately needed.
When Michigan State needed someone to step up and hit a big shot or show zero hesitation after catching a pass on the perimeter with space, Walker was that guy. He made a couple of threes as well as drove to the hoop and converted on a couple of nice drives. I’d like to see him drive to the hoop more often because he draws plenty of mismatches and can take advantage.
There’s a reason everyone talked about Michigan State having the best guard play in the Big Ten this offseason and Walker is just one-third of the reason for that but he was a major positive against Michigan on Saturday afternoon.
