Not the news that we expected the day before Thanksgiving and probably not what we expected regarding Michigan State football’s eight suspended players, but here we are.

On Wednesday afternoon, charges were filed by the prosecutor against the eight Michigan State players involved in the tunnel incident at Michigan.

Six players are facing misdemeanors while Khary Crump is facing a felony.

Itayvion Brown, Angelo Grose, Justin White, Brandon Wright, Zion Young, and Jacoby Windmon are all facing misdemeanor charges while Crump has the lone felony charge. Malcolm Jones, a freshman who was also suspended by Mel Tucker, has not been issued any charges.

While these charges have been issued, there is a disclaimer that all are innocent until proven guilty and these are merely just accusations right now.

Where does Michigan State football go from here?

I’m honestly surprised that there are charges being filed on seven guys because I’m not sure that all are warranted unless a new video has surfaced. It’s too difficult to see what happened in the skirmish in the hallway rather than the one in the tunnel.

Either way, Michigan State now knows that it can probably count these guys out for the rest of the year based on the charges and the ensuing legal process.

What does Michigan State do? If it were up to me, all but one of these guys would still be on the team and given the option to return after the four-game suspension to end the year. But it’ll be up to Tucker and if he wants to give these guys another chance (again, outside of one).

Michigan State will continue to play shorthanded against Penn State, more than likely.
