Michigan State football enters its most important weekend of the season with zero expectations from its fanbase.

Players are working behind the scenes in order to make sure they replicate that success from the 2021 Michigan vs. Michigan State football game, but it’s not going to be easy. The Spartans are 3-4 on the season and struggling to reach that .500 mark but they could do so on Saturday against the No. 4 team in the nation in Ann Arbor.

It’s going to be a tall task but here’s which Spartans could help make it happen.

3. Jacob Slade

Getting Jacob Slade back for the Wisconsin game was huge. The Spartans had struggled to generate any sort of pass rush on the year up to that point and he shifted the focus from just Jacoby Windmon and provided another defensive threat to worry about.

Slade needs to clog up the run lanes against the Wolverines on Saturday seeing as that’s their biggest strength and he needs to get some added pressure on JJ McCarthy as he hasn’t seen a ton this year.

The big defensive tackle has to be 100 percent healthy in order for this to happen and I think the bye week will have helped him there. He’s incredibly important to the success of the defense on Saturday against a high-powered Michigan attack.
