The 2022 Michigan State football season hasn’t gone quite as Mel Tucker had hoped.

Michigan State is just 3-4 heading into the Michigan game and that comes after a four-game skid was halted prior to the bye week against Wisconsin.

Sure, some momentum flipped back the Spartans’ way with the win over the Badgers, but is it enough to take down rival Michigan on the road?

If you read social media, the Spartans apparently have zero chance. We’ve all heard this before, right?

The bulletin board material from rival players, fans, and national media members has been piling up, and Tucker has taken notice.

Michigan State football is aware of the trash talk

Tucker, who’s 2-0 against Michigan in his MSU tenure, talked to the media on Monday in his weekly presser and admitted that he utilized some of the bulletin board material.

It’s great to hear that Tucker isn’t just sitting there watching his team get ripped constantly and seeing national analysts and fans say they have no shot against “big brother” despite hearing that for the past two seasons and still winning. He understands the rivalry.

Tucker went on to say that this isn’t just another game for MSU (it’s definitely not) and he knows how intense this rivalry is. He even compared it to Alabama-Auburn.

Michigan State has had Michigan’s number over the past decade-plus and the Wolverines, namely Jim Harbaugh, know that. A lot of them are staying quiet and working behind the scenes.

But Donovan Edwards even provided some bulletin board material last week, saying Michigan is going to win and have no mercy.

Tucker is cut from that same Dantonio cloth that hates Michigan.
