Michigan State football is set to host its second straight MAC opponent and this time it’s the Akron Zips. Let’s get bold.

Winning the season opener was a step in the right direction for Michigan State football despite the Spartans not looking like the team everyone expected to come roaring out of the gates.

The Spartans won 35-13 against Western Michigan but didn’t look great in the process. Mel Tucker even went as far as to say that he was disappointed with his team’s performance and he expects a ton of growth from Week 1 to Week 2.

With Akron coming to town, it’s a good chance for Michigan State to gain some confidence. Let’s dive into some bold predictions for the Week 2 matchup.

3. Keon Coleman has over 150 receiving yards and two touchdowns

Keon Coleman is a matchup nightmare and that was obvious for 60 minutes against Western Michigan. He’s a big-bodied target who led all receivers with 84 yards and a touchdown on four catches against the Broncos.

And if you think Akron’s defensive backs are going to have an easier time containing Coleman, you’re horribly mistaken. He’s going to put up some numbers.

I predicted a 100-yard game from Coleman in the opener and he nearly reached it, but I’m going one step further this time and I’m going to say Keon has seven catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Jayden Reed will approach 100 yards on his own as well.

This Zips defense is not great.
