Legendary wide receiver Michael Irvin got to predict his NFL MVP for the 2022 season and he chose former Michigan State football star Kirk Cousins.

There may not be a more hated solid quarterback in the NFL than former Spartan Kirk Cousins and there’s really no other reason for that other than the fact that he’s not flashy.

Cousins constantly has one of the best completion percentages in the NFL and his touchdown-to-interception ratio has been fantastic over the past few seasons. In fact, he has a 3.4-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio over the past four seasons and he has three 30-touchdown performances in those four years.

The former Spartan also has six 4,000-yard seasons in the past seven years. Cousins has over 32,000 passing yards, 223 touchdowns, and just 91 interceptions with a completion rate of 67 percent throughout his career, and yet he gets a ton of hate.

But legendary NFL wide receiver and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin loves what he sees from Cousins.

The former wideout turned NFL Network analyst joined a roundtable and predicted his NFL MVP for the upcoming 2022 season and his pick got a lot of hate. He chose Cousins.

Cousins will be playing for a new coaching staff this year which may actually help his numbers and he has arguably the NFL’s best receiver right now in Justin Jefferson. Choosing Cousins to win the award isn’t a popular pick, but it’s tough to truly argue based on numbers.

He was top 10 in the NFL last year in yards (9th), touchdown passes (9th), and interceptions (3rd). Not too shabby for a quarterback who everyone just assumes is mediocre.

Hopefully the Vikings excel this season so Cousins has a shot to win the MVP.
