Michigan State Football: 3 bold predictions for season opener vs. WMU
2. Keon Coleman’s first 100-yard game
All offseason, we’ve been hyping up Keon Coleman and I think we’re finally going to see the second-year receiver explode onto the scene against Western Michigan.
Coleman only had a handful of catches last season, but if you’ve listened to any interviews from him this preseason or watched any highlights from preseason scrimmages, you’d know to buy stock now. Coleman would tell you that himself — and he has — and he told reporters a couple of weeks ago that we should be expecting a breakout season from him.
With Jalen Nailor gone, someone has to step up in that WR2 or WR3 role and while Tre Mosley is the obvious choice to be the second target behind Jayden Reed, Coleman’s upside is incredible.
Western Michigan did have the No. 10 pass defense in the country last year, but it returns just one starting defensive back. This is going to play in Coleman’s favor.
Coleman will have his first career 100-yard game.
