Michigan State football opens its 2022 season against Western Michigan on Friday night. Here are three of my boldest predictions.

Today is the day, folks.

Michigan State football is finally back and the Spartans take on Western Michigan on Friday night in East Lansing. You just know campus is buzzing and it has been all week, but the smell of cigars and tailgating signal the return of football season.

We’ve finally made it through an entire offseason and now we can finally look forward to week-by-week action.

Let’s get bold ahead of Friday’s game.

3. MSU records six sacks

Under the direction of new defensive line coach Marco Coleman and pass rush specialist Brandon Jordan, Michigan State is going to have a huge game in the trenches.

Khris Bogle is also a fresh face who can benefit from these new coaches and he’ll show his true potential in the opener with a couple of sacks of his own. Jacob Slade will add a sack, Simeon Barrow will also have one and we’ll see two more guys pick at least one up. Jacoby Windmon might even add one from the linebacker spot and I wouldn’t be shocked to see Brandon Wright living in the backfield or even Jeff Pietrowski off the edge.

Michigan State will start the season off on the right note with six sacks and a number of other pressures, making life miserable for the new starting quarterback of Western Michigan.
