Shakur Brown projected to make Titans’ 53-man roster
Former Michigan State football star Shakur Brown is projected to make the Titans’ 53-man roster after a strong preseason camp and opener.
Shakur Brown is a name that has seemingly been forgotten over the past year, and the former Spartan is showing how big of a mistake that is.
After inexplicably going undrafted last year, Brown was signed by the Steelers but didn’t catch on and he bounced around to the Lions and Chiefs practice squads before ultimately ending up in the USFL with the Pittsburgh Maulers.
At the end of July, he was given another NFL shot as the Titans signed him for preseason camp.
Brown was hoping to prove that he was improved after a year of bouncing around to different practice squads and playing in the USFL and so far, he’s done just that.
In the midst of a strong camp and solid performance in the Titans’ preseason opener, it feels like Brown is playing himself into a roster spot with Tennessee. At least one Titans publication believes that he will be on the 53-man roster at the end of the preseason.
Brown has had a strong camp and he’s taking advantage of other cornerbacks being out and the lack of depth at the position on the Titans’ current roster.
Following a strong final season in East Lansing, it was shocking to see him go undrafted and it only feels right that he’s coming on in year two as a potential breakout candidate with his fourth NFL team. Brown has played himself into a potential roster spot in just a couple of weeks.
