Michigan State football: Mel Tucker doesn’t fall for Pat Narduzzi’s bait
After Pat Narduzzi made comments about beating Michigan State football in the Peach Bowl if Kenny Pickett played, Mel Tucker took the high road.
If Pat Narduzzi was trying to ignite a new rivalry with his old school, he failed. Although Michigan State football fans took exception to his comments last week about the Spartans getting “their butts kicked” if Pitt had Kenny Pickett, Mel Tucker didn’t take the bait.
Asked about the comments from Narduzzi, Tucker decided to take the high road.
Wouldn’t expect anything else from the Spartans’ head coach.
Tucker took the classy route while also hinting at the “we beat you, so why talk?” debate. He said he doesn’t like to deal in hypotheticals, especially when it comes to situations from the past that were already decided on the field. Basically, Tucker is saying “suck it up and take the loss, Pat.”
If Michigan State fans weren’t already proud to have this man running the program, this should do the trick. Tucker is the epitome of class and there’s no other coach I’d rather have leading the Michigan State football program. He is that dude.
Michigan State kicks off its 2022 campaign on Sept. 2 when Western Michigan comes to town and Tucker and his players who were at media day aren’t content with an 11-2 campaign.
Maybe the Spartans will fight their way into a New Year’s Six spot with Pitt again and prove — yet again — that the Panthers would not win the Big Ten yearly.
Narduzzi just needs to accept that his team lost and Michigan State’s coach is just classier.
