Is Michigan State football currently the nation’s hottest team on the recruiting trail?
Michigan State football is red-hot in the recruiting world, but are the Spartans currently the hottest program in the nation?
Since the calendar turned to June, Michigan State football has been red-hot.
Sure, we’re in the middle of the offseason, but recruiting buzz is palpable. The Spartans, like the rest of college football, kicked off official visit season on the weekend of June 3, and since then, Michigan State has secured five commitments.
All five of those commitments? Four-star prospects.
Michigan State had five four-star signees in the entire 2022 class. It landed that same amount in the span of two weeks to begin the month of June. That’s what you call an unprecedented streak of recruiting for Michigan State football.
Never before has Michigan State been this red-hot on the recruiting trail with four-star prospects but that’s the Tucker effect. The man knows how to recruit.
When he was hired, he said that he was going to hire a staff that was going to recruit 24/7 and at the time, it seemed like coachspeak. Clearly he meant it.
Tucker has brought the juice and excitement back to the program and recruits have been raving about their trips to East Lansing over the last two weeks. A handful of five-stars have spoken highly about East Lansing and the Michigan State football program as well as the coaching staff that is honest and relatable. There’s serious hype surrounding the program.
For the first time in seemingly, well, ever, Michigan State has a legitimate shot at landing multiple five-star prospects and that comes on the heels of four-star commitments from Chance Rucker, Clay Wedin, Jaylon Braxton, Jordan Hall, and Demitrius Bell.
Is Michigan State currently the hottest recruiting program in college football less than three months into June? I’m going to say not quite solely because Clemson is on a dominant streak right now, including landing former five-star defensive lineman and top MSU target Vic Burley this week. But outside of Clemson, the Spartans are the hottest team right now.
This feels like the start of something truly special brewing in East Lansing.
