Michigan State football released four kickoff times for the 2022 season and they should all make fans fairly happy. Hint: no noon kickoffs.

As a Michigan State football fan, nothing takes the air out of my sails more than waking up for a noon kickoff on Saturdays in the fall.

Sure, it’s great to turn on the TV and have football playing from noon until midnight, but you never want to have to prepare for your team playing one of those first games of the day. It feels like the crowd isn’t totally into it, there’s not enough time for tailgating, and it can ruin your entire day if Michigan State loses.

With that being said, fans will be pleased with the released kickoff times for four games which were made public on Thursday afternoon.

During the final couple of seasons of the Mark Dantonio era, Michigan State found itself playing nothing but noon games and it just felt like a ‘Plan B’ or ‘Plan C’ program for a lot of networks who were looking to schedule much more intriguing 3:30 and primetime kickoffs.

Now, the juice is back in the program and Mel Tucker has things trending in the right direction. The Spartans are fresh off an 11-win season with a New Year’s Six win and networks have taken note.

Michigan State is back.

Seeing nothing but 4 p.m. and later kickoffs for four early games in the 2022 season is a good sign and if Michigan State lives up to its potential, it should see even more primetime matchups against teams like Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State.

The Washington and Wisconsin games are going to be electric and if you’re not excited about later kickoffs, you might need to check your pulse.
