Michigan State basketball’s recruiting efforts may have gotten some help thanks to Jaxon Kohler’s potentially massive NIL deal.

Tom Izzo and the NIL era of college athletics haven’t exactly been best friends. He is still trying to adjust to the direction of the sport while attempting to keep Michigan State basketball at the top of the Big Ten.

Despite him not being an NIL expert just yet, he just had one of his players sign a potentially massive deal that should help his recruiting efforts down the line.

Kohler signed with agency Helium SEM, according to Adam Zagoria of Forbes, which could eventually lead to a deal worth six figures.

Justin Thind had a chance to sit down with the founder of the agency, Justin Brantley, and talked about the reason for the pairing between the two sides. He cited his love for Kohler’s game and desire to build brands that extend beyond the court. He also stated that Kohler has some of the best footwork he’s ever seen.

High praise.

Kohler’s deal that could eventually be worth six figures is also only going to help Izzo, showing future recruits that his players have signed massive contracts and can build their own brands in East Lansing. Kohler just laid out the blueprint for Izzo.

Expect this to be the first of a long line of impressive NIL possibilities for Spartan hoops stars and recruiting should be aided by Kohler signing with an agent who believes he’ll be worth six figures.

Let’s hope Izzo uses this to his advantage over the next few years as top recruits are deciding between Michigan State and other elite programs.
