Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III will be headed to Seattle as the Seahawks took him No. 41 overall in round two. How did Twitter react?
The wait didn’t take long on Day 2 of the NFL Draft for Kenneth Walker III to hear his name called as the Seahawks took him No. 41 overall, just five picks after Breece Hall went to the Jets.
It was somewhat surprising to Michigan State fans that he wasn’t the first running back chosen because he had been so dominant in East Lansing this past season, winning the Doak Walker Award as well as the Walter Camp Award. He rushed for over 1,600 yards and was the best running back to come through Michigan State in a long time.
Now, he’s a Seahawk and will look to help rebuild that team up in Seattle.
Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny are leading the backfield right now along with DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer, so there’s clearly an opportunity for him to rise up and take over the starting job.
There’s not a running back on that roster worthy of being considered a “lock” for the starting job or the workhorse back. Carson has two 1,000-yard seasons in his career but has only played 16 total games over the past two seasons which is concerning.
Walker could come in and compete for the lead back duties immediately. This pick at No. 41 overall shows that the Seahawks feel the need to improve their backfield immediately.

Kenneth Walker III is great, but the Seahawks using 41 on him is quite confusing.

They already have Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny.
Would very much like an explanation of the process that resulted in drafting a high volume running back when the need was not there.
Kenneth Walker III is just who the Seattle Seahawks needed. A great, great running back. #Seahawks

@Seahawks Watching Kenneth Walker III reminds me of the 1983 Curt Warner. He might be faster than Curt.

I like Kenneth Walker III as a player and he might be very good for Seattle but I just didn't see the need to take a RB so early. #NFLDraft
