Where will Kenneth Walker III land on Day 2 of 2022 NFL Draft?
Michigan State football star Kenneth Walker III is still waiting to hear his name called and here’s where he could land on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Not many players have had an immediate and immense impact on a program the way that Kenneth Walker III did on Michigan State football.
Walker came in from the transfer portal from Wake Forest and took over the backfield, rushing for over 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns on 6.2 yards per carry, winning the Doak Walker Award in the process. He took home the Doak Walker and the Walter Camp Award, making him one of the best players in college football.
It was a crime that he wasn’t invited to the Heisman Trophy Ceremony in New York but he stood out as the nation’s most explosive playmaker.
Declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft wasn’t a shock and neither was his fantastic performance at the combine where he finished with the second-fastest 40-time at 4.38. He only helped his stock and while running backs aren’t really valued as first-rounders anymore, he could be the first one off the board on Day 2, but where could he land?
There’s going to be a decent debate about whether Breece Hall or Walker should be the first running back chosen, but there are a handful of teams willing to take a chance on either one early on Day 2.
Who are they?
- Texans (No. 37)
- Seahawks (Nos. 40, 41)
- Falcons (Nos. 43, 58)
- Chiefs (Nos. 50, 62)
- Cardinals (No. 55)
- Bills (No. 57)
- 49ers (No. 61)
I don’t see Walker falling into the third round, so these are the most likely draft spots for him. I could see any one of the three teams with two second-round picks taking a chance on him because there’s isn’t anything to lose.
The Seahawks, Falcons, and Chiefs would all be solid landing spots for him.
The two places that I think would fit him the best would be Arizona and Buffalo, but will he fall to the 50s? I think there’s a decent shot of that.
My official prediction is going to be the Cardinals at No. 55 overall but if they pass on him, I see him going to either Buffalo at No. 57 or Atlanta at No. 58.
The best-case scenario hopefully happens for the Spartan running back on Friday. He could play be the final piece for Super Bowl contenders in Arizona and Buffalo.
