Michigan State basketball is in its 24 straight NCAA tournament and it gets to take on Davidson to kick off its run. What’s needed in this one?

Michigan State is traveling to Greenville, S.C., to take on the Wildcats of Davidson in the first round of the NCAA tournament. This matchup has been previewed by many to be one of the upsets in the first round with Davidson winning it.

The Spartans are capable of beating anyone in their region when they show up and want to play. On the other hand, they are also capable of losing to anyone in the bracket when there is just no spark from them. This was seen when they beat Wisconsin by 12 in Madison but also seen when they lost to Penn St by 4.

The Spartans lost last year in the first four against UCLA. The Izzo-led Spartans have never lost back-to-back first-round games so what does this team have to do to not let history be made.

3. Relax, Just play your game

This Michigan State team has a way of come out rushed and over thinking their game. They need to just relax and come out playing their game. The way they played in the Big Ten tournament was great. They came out strong in their performances. Swarming defenses, crashing the boards, and making critical shots. That what they were doing in the Big Ten Tournament and they have to channel that on Friday.

Michigan State just needs to relax. They cannot come in flustered about the big stage. All of these players minus the freshman and Tyson Walker, other than these players the rest of the Spartans have been here before. They know what it takes. These experienced players need to be leaders and step up in this big game.

The tournament is brutal filled with wild upsets and the Spartans do not have to be a part of it if they do not come out flustered.
