Michigan State basketball picked up a monster win over No. 12 Wisconsin on Friday night to advance to the conference tourney semifinals.

The last time Michigan State basketball faced Wisconsin, its offense faltered on its way to a 70-62 loss in East Lansing. The Spartans’ offense wasn’t much better on Friday night in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals but that didn’t matter as the defense stepped up and Michigan State won 69-63.

This marked the third straight Michigan State win which is the longest winning streak since January and it could spark confidence heading into the NCAA Tournament.

With this latest Quad 1 win, Michigan State may have locked up a 7-seed in the NCAA Tournament and a win over Penn State or Purdue on Saturday afternoon could even move it up one.

What did we learn from this monster win?

3. Marcus Bingham Jr. is playing his best basketball at the perfect time

We’ve all been waiting for Marcus Bingham Jr. to realize his potential and finally, we saw it on Friday night as he stepped up down the stretch to lead Michigan State to a huge win.

Bingham scored a career-best 19 points to go along with 11 rebounds and three blocks and his defense made a difference but he also made some big shots for the Spartans when they needed it down the stretch. He looked like a star in the post and really made life difficult for the Wisconsin bigs.

If Michigan State can continue to get this type of play out of Bingham going forward, the Spartans are going to be really tough to stop in the NCAA Tournament.

Over the last four games, Bingham is averaging 12 points and eight rebounds and Michigan State is 3-1 in that span. This is exactly what Tom Izzo needs.
