Michigan State Basketball: 3 keys to victory vs. Wisconsin in quarterfinals
By Nate Rhoades
1. Get Gabe Brown and Max Christie going early
Gabe Brown is back and is out of his shooting slump. In the last five games, he has been in double figures. He is able has been able to find space and is looking for his shot again. He has not looked timid since the Purdue game when he saw two threes fall early.
The Spartans need this same kind of success in against Wisconsin because Brown is more energized when he sees his shots fall early and he fuels the rest of the team with that same energy.
Max Christie is also one who has been in a slump. He, however, looked to get out of the slump against Maryland where he was the team’s leading scorer. he scored 16 points and he was all over the court. Christie needs to get going early to fuel the rest of the Spartans on the offensive side. He also needs to play some stingy defense and shut down the great Johnny Davis and not let him get easy shots.
If the Spartans can get these two going early it will be a great game to watch and the Spartans will be able to be in the game and there to win it when the clock nears zero. However, if the Spartans cannot get these two going early they will get down early and it will be another long night and their tournament run will end.
