Michigan State Basketball: 3 bold predictions vs. Maryland in 2022 Big Ten Tournament
Michigan State basketball gets a rematch with Maryland on Thursday night to kick off its 2022 Big Ten Tournament showing. Will the Spartans advance?
Tom Izzo feels like he has something to build on after his Michigan State basketball team beat Maryland on Sunday to end yet another losing streak. Will it be enough to take down those same Terrapins for the second time in four days?
The Terrapins may not be the best team in the conference, but they can be pesky, so beating them for the third time this season won’t be a cakewalk despite this being a favorable matchup.
Michigan State needs to bring that same energy that it had on Sunday, especially early on.
Will the Spartans beat Maryland for the third time?
3. Marcus Bingham has another double-double
Just four times this season, Marcus Bingham Jr. has recorded a double-double. His last one came on Senior Day against these Terrapins and I think he just matches up well with Maryland’s bigs.
In the first matchup, Bingham had 10 points and six rebounds. In the second matchup, he had 12 points and 11 rebounds and really got the Spartans off to a quick start with eight points in the first couple of minutes to give them a quick 11-0 lead. It was his first double-double since he caught COVID back in December. Maybe he’s getting his mojo back finally?
Bingham’s confidence will continue to build in this third matchup with Maryland as he scores 11 and has 11 rebounds, leading the Spartans in the latter category.
Two straight double-doubles are going to do wonders for Bingham’s confidence.
