Michigan State football landed another transfer on Monday as Washington State’s Brian Greene joined the 2022 class. This is a huge get.

Chris Kapilovic had some work to do this offseason. In need of some proven offensive linemen, he eyed the portal for potential transfers and one stood out to the Michigan State football line coach: Brian Greene.

The Washington State transfer was one of the best interior offensive linemen on the market and he has plenty of starting experience under his belt.

According to SpartanTailgate, Greene was on campus earlier this month for a visit and he liked what he saw enough to commit to the Spartans over a handful of other potential suitors.

Also, he’s been on the Rimington Award watch list which is given to the nation’s top center.

In 2020, he was named honorable mention All-Pac-12 and he is likely to play a large role on this line moving forward. Michigan State desperately needed a boost on the line after it struggled last season and he’s sure to provide that.

I could see Greene moving to guard, allowing Nick Samac to play center, JD Duplain or Geno VanDeMark splitting time at guard, and Jarrett Horst and Spencer Brown at tackle. Heck, this move may be enough to move VanDeMark to a starting tackle spot which he is capable of handling.

Either way, this transfer gives Kapilovic and the Spartans options up front. This is something they haven’t had in years.

Michigan State’s line should be much better next season and the departure of Kenneth Walker III has been addressed so don’t expect a drop-off on offense.
