Senior Day is officially upon us and Michigan State basketball is looking to send three guys out with a bang. Let’s get bold ahead of Sunday’s finale.

It’s been a season of ups and downs for Michigan State basketball and after a 17-4 start to the year, the Spartans have fallen to 19-11 ahead of a senior day matchup with Maryland.

Michigan State has gone from the 3/4 seed line all the way down to a projection No. 7 or No. 8 seed which has forced a lot of fans to give up hope. The Spartans are just 2-7 over their past six games after climbing all the way to No. 10 in the AP Top 25, but they have a chance to finish the regular season on a high note with a win over Maryland.

The Terps haven’t been great this year and Michigan State has already beaten them once, but the Spartans have been really bad in rematches this season.

Let’s get bold ahead of Sunday’s matchup.

3. The Spartans actually get off to a quick start

Can you believe it? Michigan State won’t be down double-digits by the under-16 timeout for the first time in seemingly weeks. OK, they weren’t down big early to Purdue last Saturday, but other than that game, Michigan State can’t seem to get out of its own way in the first few minutes.

That’s going to change on Sunday.

Michigan State is going to get off to a quick start, holding an early five-point lead over Maryland in the first few minutes and then building on that until the final buzzer.

Will this quick start help the Spartans finally end this slump and catch fire before the Big Ten Tournament? Let’s hope so.
