Michigan State Basketball: 3 bold predictions for road test at Michigan
2. Max Christie snaps out of slump in a big way
Prior to Michigan State’s last game against Purdue, I predicted that Gabe Brown would break out of his slump because the Spartans needed him to. They were 11-2 when he scored more than 10 points this season and he stepped up and scored 13, making three big threes to down Purdue.
Now, I’m predicting Max Christie follows suit and also breaks out of his slump in another crucial game.
Christie did get back on track against Purdue, scoring 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting, but he still took some poor shots and didn’t have a ton of confidence in his long-range jumpers. Still, it was a step in the right direction and he’ll build on that against Michigan.
The last time he faced Michigan, he scored 16 on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor but he has scored in double figures just twice since. He’ll have another big game against the Wolverines, topping his first performance with 18 points, hitting three big threes along the way.
Michigan State is 11-0 when Christie scores more than 10 points this season and that’s a good sign for Tuesday night’s matchup.
