Michigan State basketball hosts No. 4 Purdue on Saturday afternoon and there’s a lot to play for. Will the Spartans pull off the upset?

Michigan State is slumping, there’s no way around it. The Spartans have lost five out of their last six games to go from 17-4 to 19-9 which is wild when you really sit down to think about it.

The Spartans’ season seemed to have turned sour with a loss to Northwestern and the struggles were magnified in a loss to Penn State after they led by 14 in the second half. Michigan State needs to figure something out quickly before it struggles to make a run in the NCAA tournament.

Will the Spartans pull off the upset of Purdue?

3. We will see starting lineup changes

This may not seem all that bold, because Tom Izzo said changes need to be made, but when asked about that quote, Julius Marble told the media it was more of a mental change than anything.

So that makes us believe that there aren’t going to be any lineup changes.

But I think that Izzo is fed up with his starters’ inability to produce lately. He has to make changes if he wants to salvage this season. He got only 19 points from his starting lineup against Iowa and Malik Hall had 17 off the bench. That’s just a wild stat. That needs to change.

Michigan State will see changes to its starting lineup and I think it’ll be Hall and maybe even both Tyson Walker and AJ Hoggard starting. Heck, I wouldn’t be shocked if Akins got a look at the shooting guard spot, moving Max to more of a three/wing.
