Michigan State Basketball: 3 keys to beating a tough Wisconsin team
By Nate Rhoades
Michigan State basketball is looking to right the track and pick up another quality win against a tough Wisconsin team. What needs to happen?
Michigan State is coming off an awful loss at Rutgers. The Spartans were not limiting the Scarlet Knights’ offense and letting them shoot an outstanding 62 percent from the floor. The Spartans could not keep up with that high efficiency and ended up falling by 21 points.
The Spartans have a lot to improve on in order to right the track and pick up another high-quality win against Wisconsin. The Badgers are a much better team than what Rutgers was so the Spartans will have their hands full when Wisconsin comes to the Breslin Center.
The Spartans will have home court advantage this time around which should help them but they have plenty to do in order to pick up this win. It will be yet another grind-it-out game.
What do the Spartans have to do in order to get the victory?
3. Scoring needs to come from all angles
Michigan State is at their best when they are getting production from all angles. They can normally rely on Max Christie, Gabe Brown, Marcus Bingham, and Malik Hall off the bench to add to the scoring column. This was not happening against Rutgers which is why they fell short.
The best thing that happened against Rutgers is that they finally saw Brown break out of the shooting slump he was in. He will need to continue this momentum in order to help the Spartans pull out a win.
The others will now need to get back on track.
Christie and Hall shot an awful 4-for-15 from the floor and only added 2-for-10 from deep. Shooting like this is not going to put the Spartans in the win column. These two players will need to come storming back in order to pull off the “upset” against Wisconsin.
