Michigan State basketball heads to Maryland on Tuesday to take on the Terrapins. What do the Spartans need to do in order to pick up the win?

Michigan State basketball is back on the road heading to Maryland to take on the Terrapins. The Spartans are coming off a great home win against in-state rival Michigan and will look to continue that success against Maryland.

Maryland is having an off-year and is not super productive. The Terps do, however, have players that are solid and can make this a game if the Spartans let them.

What do the Spartans need to do to win this game?

3. Gabe Brown’s early involvement

Michigan State will need to get Gabe Brown going early. Brown should be looking for his shot and be hunting his shot. The Spartans have fared well during this time of Brown somewhat disappearing but Brown is an important part to this team and they will need him to get going again.

Brown has been in a slump the past few games and just looked out of sync. Not finding his shot and being unproductive. This is not the Gabe we are used to seeing. He’s normally making hard cuts on the baseline to the basket for a lob or he is running around screens to get a decent look from deep. He has not been doing this lately and his confidence has fallen a little bit because of this.

Gabe being a big part of the offense in this game will do wonders for the Spartans. His confidence started to grow in the second half of the Michigan game where he scored all nine of his points. If MSU can get him going early his confidence will continue to grow. This will not only be a key to winning this game but to how the rest of the season will go.

Brown is a vital part of the offense and if he continues this slump it could bring the Spartans down with him. Look for him to hit three 3-pointers and be aggressive in this game so he can get back his confidence.
