Michigan State will start the February schedule by traveling to Maryland to take on a tough Terrapins team. Maryland has some good players who have been there for a while and know the program in Eric Ayala and Donta Scott.

Michigan State has veterans of its own who’ve come out of their shell this year to lead the team.

With Michigan State playing to the level of the opponents so far this season and not dominating lesser foes, this game will stand out. Michigan State has seen away environments of all levels and have battled in some close games. Seniors Gabe Brown and Marcus Bingham will lead their team with quality scoring efforts from Max Christie and Malik Hall as well.

Michigan State will be on the lookout and on top of their game. They win this one easy to start off the new month.

Prediction: Michigan State 78, Maryland 65 (17-4, 8-2 Big Ten)

Michigan State will have to travel to Rutgers and play a pesky team that has some quality wins. The Scarlet Knights are led by Ron Harper Jr. and despite a couple of quality wins, they have been very up and down. They were able to topple then-No. 1 Purdue on their home court. They were also able to destroy Northwestern by nearly 30 points this season and a decent Iowa team.

However, they have some bad losses such as at Penn State by 17 and at home against Lafayette.

Michigan State won’t let Harper get going and the Scarlet Knights will struggle all game. Michigan State will have an even scoring line with eight players scoring in double figures and they will roll to another victory.

Prediction: Michigan State 82, Rutgers 63 (18-4, 9-2)
