3. Playing time for Keon Coleman

Since the beginning of the season, many fans have speculated whether Keon Coleman would be a two-sport athlete. He played football for the Spartans this past fall and was on the team until the conclusion of the bowl game.

Once the football season ended is when there was a lot of speculation as to if and when Coleman would play basketball. It was Jan. 13 when Coleman and Maliq Carr joined the team on a trial basis.

Tom Izzo was unsure if they would see time on the court and whether they would get quality looks to add to this Spartan team. This was just two weeks ago. Fast forward to Saturday and Coleman saw a short stint of about a minute against the Wolverines.

Although Coleman did not see a ton of time, he was able to make his minute worthwhile.

I don’t know if Michigan was not trying to play hard or what but it looked like it was still playing somewhat tight defense with starters in. With this, Coleman got the ball and was able to dribble around a player. He then continued his dribbling and split the defense and a couple of hand checks to rise up and put in a pretty-looking scoop lay-up.

I do not want to speculate too much on this because it could be nothing but his athleticism and ability to control the ball could be a huge asset to this Spartan team if others get into foul trouble or get injured.

Coleman just from the short stint on the court seems like he is an Izzo type of player and wanted to prove this. Keep an eye on this and whether or not Coleman will get any more playing time.
