Michigan State football needed to make some assistant coach hires this offseason and Brandon Jordan happened to be a home run hire for Mel Tucker.

Name the last time Mel Tucker made a questionable hire for Michigan State football.

That’s right, you can’t.

The second-year head coach is heading into his third offseason with the program and he has been forced to look for some new coaches to replace guys like Travares Tillman and William Peagler. Tucker has stated that his new hires won’t be limited to the same exact positions but rather the best guys available.

Effrem Reed, who worked under Peagler, has reportedly been hired as the running backs coach replacement but there was still another opening on the staff on the other side of the ball.

According to a report from Justin Thind and Corey Robinson, Michigan State is in the process of reaching a deal to bring in Brandon Jordan as the defensive ends coach.

While this name may not be familiar with the casual fan, when looking deeper into what he brings to the table, Jordan was an absolute home run hire by Tucker once again. At this point, Tucker is approaching Barry Bonds-levels of home runs.

What Jordan brings to the table for Michigan State football

Jordan has experience with training NFL stars ranging from DK Metcalf to Von Miller. He’s worked with 195 current NFL players which is just a wild resume.

That is an incredible list of current pros who Jordan has worked with and that just goes to show that he’s going to have zero problems bringing in some elite defensive line talent. A combination of Jordan and Ron Burton is going to be huge for Michigan State’s defensive front.

Jordan is still planning on training NFL players on the side so that means there will be a lot of big names in East Lansing for a while and that’s going to attract some top recruits.

This is an innovative, well-thought-out hire that just goes to show that Tucker knows what it takes to win big and Jordan is going to take this defense to the next level.
