Michigan State football secured its 11th win of the 2021 season against Pitt in the Peach Bowl in epic fashion. Let’s rank the top three plays.

If you stayed up late to watch Michigan State football pick up a big win over Pitt, you probably woke up this morning feeling great.

The Spartans looked dead in the water heading into the fourth quarter, but the offense came to life late and Michigan State ended up scoring 21 points in the final frame to complete an epic comeback to beat the No. 12 team in the country.

Some players stepped up big-time to help lead the Spartans to a huge win.

It’s hard to pinpoint the singular play that made the difference on Thursday night because there were so many good ones.

Let’s take a look at my top three players from the Peach Bowl win.

3. Connor Heyward touchdown catch

With Michigan State down 21-10 in the fourth quarter and in need of a spark on offense and backed up on third-and-goal from the 15-yard-line, Payton Thorne threw a near-perfect ball to Connor Heyward but the senior made an even better catch.

Thorne put the ball where only his guy could catch it and Heyward did just that, rising up and tumbling over a defender in the end zone for a huge score.

I don’t think people really realize how important this catch was for Michigan State. It not only ignited the offense, but it gave Thorne the confidence he needed to lead the Spartans to a comeback win over Pitt. The throw may have been Thorne’s best of the night when he was completely off.

If this is just No. 3, you know this is going to be an elite list.
