Michigan State football could get a couple key players back for Peach Bowl
Michigan State football could be getting a couple of key players back for the Peach Bowl against Pitt on Thursday night in Atlanta.
The injury bug avoided Michigan State football for most of the season until the Spartans reached the final month of the regular season.
Sure, there were minor injuries here and there, but most guys returned to action shortly after making the weekly injury list. But some were more long-term and undisclosed.
Mel Tucker didn’t like to talk about injuries in his weekly press conferences and key players like Jalen Nailor and Jarrett Horst missed the final month of the regular season with minimal updates from the head coach.
No one knew if they’d be back in time for the Dec. 30 Peach Bowl against Pitt, but it looks like things are looking good for at least one of them to return to action.
Nailor, Horst could both return for Michigan State football
Nailor hasn’t played since he injured his hand against Michigan when he caught four passes for 75 yards. On Monday, he was pictured without a cast on that hand and all signs are pointing to him playing for the Spartans against Pitt.
Horst didn’t play in the final four games of the regular season because of an “injury” — there were rumors that he left the team due to personal reasons. He looks to be back with the team and he traveled down to Atlanta and is officially “questionable” for the Peach Bowl.
This is a fantastic development.
Horst had been “out” for a month and the fact that he’s questionable for Thursday night is a big development and it shows that Michigan State might be getting a very important piece of its offensive line back for the New Year’s Six bowl.
These two key players are undoubtedly going to aid this offense if they do play. Expect Nailor to appear for sure while Horst may be a game-time decision.
