2. Maurice Jones-Drew

This one probably wouldn’t have been on my mind if not for 247Sports‘ Justin Thind bringing it up after William Peagler was rumored to be targeted by Billy Napier and Florida.

When you think more about this, it makes sense. Maurice Jones-Drew and Mel Tucker have a history as the two were in Jacksonville together for four years. Tucker was the defensive coordinator and then interim head coach for the Jaguars while Jones-Drew was a star running back and there seems to be a solid relationship there.

Tucker actually had Jones-Drew on his podcast, Tucker Talks, last year when he was in the first season as Michigan State’s coach and the two talked about their strong relationship and respect for each other. The fact that Tucker had him on as a podcast guest (he only had a handful of guests), shows that he thinks highly of Jones-Drew.

If Michigan State is looking for a running back with plenty of NFL success and who can connect with young recruits and players, Jones-Drew is a perfect fit.

Jones-Drew doesn’t have any coaching experience, but maybe this is just what the 36-year-old former NFL running back has been looking for.
