Kenneth Walker III played just one season for Michigan State football but his impact on the program is immeasurable. This tribute video encapsulates that.

Rarely do programs land transfers that have immediate and lasting impacts in just one year, but Michigan State football was fortunate to get a once-in-a-lifetime addition in Kenneth Walker III.

In just one year, Walker turned Michigan State into a 10-win New Year’s Six-bound team after going just 2-5 last season. Mel Tucker hit the portal and landed what has turned out to be the nation’s most impactful transfer as Walker finished sixth in Heisman voting (somehow) and won the Doak Walker Award.

On top of being Michigan State’s first-ever Doak Walker Award winner, he also took home the Walter Camp Award and finished as the first 1,000-yard rusher since Jeremy Langford reached that mark in 2014. He has been a godsend for this program and helped Tucker swing momentum back in the right direction.

Walker has done just about everything for Michigan State, including becoming a fan favorite and one of the most beloved Spartans of all time — that’s not easy to do in just 12 games.

And after opting out of the Peach Bowl in order to prepare for the NFL draft, fans came to the sad realization that they’d never see him in a Michigan State uniform again.

So Michigan State football decided to post a tribute video that pulled at all of our heartstrings.

Too soon, MSU football. Too soon.

It’s pretty clear that he fell in love with the program in a short time and he gave his all for Michigan State. The love was reciprocated as both Tucker and his teammates accepted him immediately. He has become one of those players for who everyone, regardless of fanbase, roots. He’s that great of a player and person.

Walker is going to be missed in East Lansing and I can safely say there will never be another K9 in a Michigan State uniform.
