Mel Tucker and Co. have made their presence known in the transfer portal for Michigan State football over the past two seasons. How have those transfers fared?

While there are still several players from the Mark Dantonio era on the roster, Mel Tucker and the staff have utilized the recruiting trail in a way not many coaches do: The transfer portal. Since Tucker joined the staff, he has brought in 22 transfers. Three of those transfers are from the past two weeks.

Last year, Tucker brought in 19 players through the portal. Of those 19, nine of them played more than 100 snaps this season. To rid the report card of too small of sample sizes, the players that played fewer than 100 snaps will receive an incomplete grade.

Those players include:

  • LB Samih Beydoun
  • DB Kendell Brooks
  • LB Itayvion “Tank” Brown
  • DB Khary Crump
  • WR Christian Fitzpatrick
  • RB Harold Joiner III
  • DB Spencer Rowland
  • QB Anthony Russo
  • P Cody Waddell
  • TE Powers Warren

With nine transfers receiving a handful (or more) of snaps this season, they will be receiving a grade based on their beginning expectations and their overall impact this season.
