Michigan State Football: Kenneth Walker III, Mel Tucker share awesome moment
Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker and Kenneth Walker III shared a cool moment when he found out he won a couple of major awards.
If you’ve ever watched Kenneth Walker III talk to the media, you’d know that the Michigan State football star hates being the center of attention. He loves giving credit to his teammates and he’s the kind of guy who will deflect the spotlight at every opportunity.
Walker is that soft-spoken, humble superstar that every program wishes to have. He’s one of those once-in-a-generation players and people who can contend for the nation’s most prestigious awards and shy away from the camera at the same time.
But his teammates and coaches love praising him and giving him credit.
Mel Tucker got an opportunity to shower his star running back with praise on Thursday night during a team meeting when he was able to break some news to Walker.
Tucker was informed by ESPN before the annual college football awards show that Walker was going to be named both the Doak Walker Award and Walter Camper Award winner. He called a team meeting, pulled Walker up to the front of the room, and told him the news in front of his teammates and coaches.
The moment was really awesome.

You can just tell that the team loves him and he loves his teammates. He didn’t want to be the center of attention but he was grateful for the awards and was smiling the entire time.
Just imagine how cool this video would have been if Walker was named the Heisman Trophy winner. OK, I won’t bring that up again.
Walker has to go down as the most humble superstar to ever put on a Spartan jersey.
