2. Shooting

When it comes to field goal percentage this season, the Spartans have been very average. The team is currently converting 45 percent from the field this season and 48 percent from two which is good for 154th and 257th in the nation, respectively.

MSU has been good from behind the arc, hitting 38 percent this season, but overall, it hasn’t been enough for this team offensively. The Spartans are ranked 160th in points per game with 73.4.

For players with at least six starts this season for MSU, three of the five (Tyson Walker, Max Christie, and Joey Hauser) are shooting below 43 percent this season, and two of those three (Christie and Hauser) are shooting below 34 percent. That is not the type of efficiency you want to see out of your starters, especially with what the country expects out of the Spartans.

There does seem to be some improvement for the three mentioned as they shot a combined 48 percent from the field against Minnesota, including a standout performance from Walker.

If the Spartans can improve their scoring throughout this season and maintain their defensive level of play, this team would be set up nice come March.
