Kenneth Walker III was somehow snubbed by Heisman voters but here’s why the Michigan State football superstar is still the nation’s best player.

On Monday night, Heisman Trophy voting closed and a couple of hours later, the finalists were revealed. What happened next was painful for Michigan State football fans: Kenneth Walker III was left off the invite list to the Heisman ceremony in New York.

Just a tragedy.

Walker was the best player in college football for a good chunk of the season and was even the front-runner for the Heisman as recently as Nov. 13 against Maryland but an injury against Ohio State in a blowout led to just six carries for 25 yards and his campaign was essentially shot. He finished with a 100-yard game against Penn State to end the year.

But somehow voters left him out of their top four when Heisman ballots were cast. He finished behind three quarterbacks (a questionable decision) and arguably the second-best defender (Will Anderson won the Nagurski Award). It didn’t make sense to leave the nation’s best player at home.

Heisman voters did just that and they’re not being held accountable for the tragic oversight. Walker belongs in New York even if Bryce Young is the favorite to win it after a hot finish to the season.

Here’s why Walker is still the best player in college football despite not being a Heisman finalist.
