Michigan State Football: 3 things Spartans are playing for vs. Penn State
2. Kenneth Walker III’s Heisman hopes
Do I think Kenneth Walker III is going to win the Heisman? If you asked me this question before the Ohio State game, I would have said absolutely. I would have said Walker was the favorite to win the award, but after he touched the ball just six times for 25 yards and CJ Stroud went off for 400-plus yards and six touchdowns, it’s clear that he’s no longer in the lead.
In fact, Walker is likely behind both Stroud and Alabama quarterback Bryce Young in the race for the Heisman Trophy but he has a chance to make up some ground against Penn State.
Sitting at about 1,500 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on the year, Walker could still break that top three and maybe even make a case for the coveted award with a huge showing. If Michigan State wins and Walker goes for 150-200 yards and a touchdown or two, he’ll be right there at the top of the Heisman list with Stroud and Young.
Michigan State needs to win this one and Walker needs to return to have another big game.
