Michigan State football is fresh off its toughest loss of the season, a 56-7 thrashing by Ohio State in Columbus. But even with the loss, Michigan State is playing for a lot against Penn State.

Sure, there’s the majestic Land Grant Trophy, but I’m thinking more like a New Year’s Six bowl berth. Making it to the New Year’s Six just a year after finishing 2-5 under first-year head coach Mel Tucker is a fantastic momentum shift as a program and it could be a sign of things to come.

Penn State won’t go down easily, however. The Nittany Lions are one of the better teams in the Big Ten despite having just a 7-4 record.

Let’s get bold ahead of a big season finale.

3. Keon Coleman catches another touchdown pass

We are likely going to see more of Keon Coleman in the season finale and that’s because the Spartans could very well be without Jayden Reed and Jalen Nailor. If that’s the case, Michigan State is going to have to rely heavily on the talented freshman.

Tre Mosley already said that the Spartans have enough talent to make up for the losses of Reed and Nailor, but he may be the focus of the defense because he’s the top healthy wideout.

That means that Coleman might just fly under the radar and have himself a day.

Coleman is already a fan favorite and everyone believes he has the talent to be a star at Michigan State and he caught his first touchdown pass as a Spartan against Ohio State last week. I think he’ll get another serious shot and he’ll catch a touchdown pass for a second straight game.

Is this the start of the Keon Coleman ascendance?
