Michigan State Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Maryland in Week 11
If you like defense, you may not want to tune into Saturday’s Maryland versus Michigan State football game in East Lansing.
Both teams have been known to put up some points this season while both have also struggled on the defensive side of the ball. In fact, both Michigan State and Maryland allow over 400 yards per game, on average. The Spartans have a much better scoring defense which may work in their favor on Saturday evening.
Michigan State came in at No. 7 in the latest playoff poll and it’s hoping to improve to 9-1 and move up a spot with a convincing win here.
Time for the boldest of bold predictions.
3. Payton Thorne throws for 300 yards, no picks
Ever since Payton Thorne had back-to-back 300-yard games against Rutgers and Western Kentucky about a month ago, he has thrown for over 200 yards just once.
In fact, he had just 126 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions in his worst game of the year against Indiana and then 196 yards and two interceptions against Michigan. Some of the picks have been on tipped balls so they’re not all on him, but he has six interceptions over his past four games which have been a growing issue.
I think Thorne is going to have his first pick-free game since Western Kentucky and throw for over 300 yards for the first time since Rutgers on Saturday evening.
It’ll be his best game since early October and it’ll give him confidence heading into Ohio State week.
