1. Michigan State goes 3-1

Is it really bold to say Michigan State will go 3-1 in the final month of play after an 8-0 start? I think so, especially considering the final stretch of games will be far from a cakewalk.

In fact, Michigan State has Purdue in Week 10 which is going to be the trappiest of trap games and the Boilermakers have a history of pulling off top-10 upsets and ruining seasons. Following that game, Michigan State will host a decent Maryland team followed by Ohio State and then Penn State. There’s a chance that Michigan State could go 1-3 in that stretch, but I’m predicting the opposite.

Michigan State will hold on to beat Purdue thanks to a strong game from Kenneth Walker III and a much cleaner performance from Payton Thorne while the defense bends but doesn’t break again.

The Spartans will then beat Maryland in an offensive outburst game.

Following that, Michigan State will play Ohio State tough and possibly provide the Buckeyes their toughest test of the season outside of Oregon, taking them down to the wire before losing by a touchdown in Columbus.

Michigan State will close the year with a tight win over Penn State, and this one is long overdue. Mel Tucker’s team will remain focused after its first loss and beat the Nittany Lions in East Lansing with a Big Ten title potentially on the line.

Huge success for Tucker’s second season, finishing 11-1 with a close loss to Ohio State.
