Receivers/Tight Ends: B+

We didn’t see the receivers have a huge game, but they did just enough to get the Spartans in position to score a few times.

Jalen Nailor had a big catch early on to move the chains on the first drive and then again on fourth down in the second quarter which led to the Spartans’ second touchdown. He didn’t play in the second half because of an apparent hand injury but finished the game with four catches for 75 yards.

Jayden Reed had a solid game after a very quiet first half. He stepped up with Nailor out and really put the team on his back in the passing game. He led the team with 80 yards on six catches. He had a clutch fourth-down catch while down 30-14 which set up a touchdown to pull within a score on the 1-yard-line and then he caught the game-tying two-point conversion.

I also thought Tre Mosley had one of the biggest catches of the game on the first two-point conversion attempt where he ran a great route over the middle to get open.

Connor Heyward picked up a big first down and had two catches for 10 yards, Montorie Foster stepped up with Nailor out to catch a couple of passes for 15 yards, and both Maliq Carr and Tyler Hunt had short receptions.

Not their best day, but a decent day in gloomy, wet weather.
