Michigan State Football: East Lansing was logical College GameDay choice
The atmosphere in East Lansing this weekend is going to be elite. The vibes for the Michigan vs. Michigan State football game are about to be at an all-time high because it’s the first time since 1964 that these two will both be in the top 10 when they meet and first time since 2010 that both are undefeated.
Mix that with FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff crew being in town along with College GameDay which just announced on Monday that it would be headed to East Lansing for the first time since 2015.
East Lansing is going to be absolutely buzzing on Saturday morning/afternoon.
The last time College GameDay was in East Lansing? When Oregon visited in 2015 and then the Spartans went on to win the Big Ten and make the College Football Playoff. They’re hoping for similar luck this time around.
It’s rare that both FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff and ESPN’s College GameDay crews will be on the same campus, but that’s just how massive this game is. Michigan and Michigan State are both vying for a spot in the playoff race and the winner will be Ohio State’s main competition to win the Big Ten.
And it’s the logical choice, especially since Penn State lost to Illinois last weekend and fell to No. 20 in the Week 9 AP Top 25 so that Ohio State matchup isn’t quite as important.
East Lansing will be buzzing
Recruiting may take off because of this Saturday. There will be some important recruits on campus and it will be the most electric atmosphere East Lansing has seen since the prime Mark Dantonio days.
Years of darkness in the latter stages of Dantonio meant that there was very little to be excited about because contending wasn’t happening, but this is different.
And it’s just Year 2 of Mel Tucker.
Let’s hope this is just the start because this instant culture change has been fantastic.
