2. Job security

If you’ve followed college football, you’d know that the job security at LSU is just not great. The Tigers hired Ed Orgeron to win them a national title, he did that in 2019 with arguably the most explosive team ever and now he’s out of a job two years later.

You could go back and look at Les Miles’ resume at LSU and see the same thing. The Tigers won the national title in 2007, went back to the title game in 2011 and was canned five years later.

Winning at LSU with all of those resources doesn’t seem all that difficult, but remaining a national title contender in the loaded SEC is imperative.

At Michigan State, Mel Tucker can do what Mark Dantonio did, winning 8-10 games regularly and have all the job security in the world. Sure, expectations will rise the more he wins like they did with Dantonio but as long as he doesn’t miss bowl games on a regular basis and remains in the Big Ten title hunt yearly, he’s going to be there as long as he wants.

Tucker has to see how LSU treated its last two national title-winning coaches and realize that he has it made in East Lansing, security-wise.
