Somehow, Mel Tucker has led a Cinderella Story Michigan State football team to 7-0 in his second year, ranked No. 7 in the Coaches Poll, ranked No. 9 in the AP Poll, and tied atop the Big Ten East. Heading into rivalry week, it’s likely that the Spartans and Wolverines will be undefeated and in the top 10 when they face each other on Oct. 30.

Michigan hosts Northwestern this week while Michigan State has a bye week.

The Spartans have played hard, winning fierce games against both Nebraska and Indiana. They’ve absolutely steamrolled teams (like Miami and Rutgers). Michigan State looks good.

Michigan State football has a lot to work on before playing Michigan, however.

Before the Spartans host the currently-ranked No. 6 Michigan Wolverines on Oct. 30, they have some work to do. The schedule has been relatively easy, but they’ve been surprising. They’ve beaten Northwestern, Miami, Youngstown State, Indiana, Nebraska, Rutgers, and Western Kentucky.

No game has been perfect yet, but they’ll need to step it up when they play Michigan.
