Right when Michigan State football looked like it was cooked, Mel Tucker dialed up some trickery on a punt return which led to a huge Jayden Reed return.

Down 20-13, a punt return touchdown in the fourth quarter and some huge defensive stops led to a huge Michigan State win in East Lansing to improve to 4-0 before Western Kentucky comes to town. The win was gigantic as nobody expected a comeback but the punt return touchdown changed the entire outlook.

In overtime, Adrian Martinez threw a huge interception which led to the game-winning field goal by the Spartans.

What did we learn from the huge come-from-behind against Nebraska?

3. The offensive line got a wake-up call

You could tell early on that it was going to be a long for the offensive line. The offensive line got blown up against Nebraska as the Cornhuskers found themselves in the backfield all night long.

Kenneth Walker III couldn’t get anything going as he finished with just over 60 yards on 3.1 yards per carry which isn’t going to open any eyes, but he did have a huge run in overtime which put the Spartans inside the Nebraska 5-yard line making the field goal for Matt Coghlin almost a guarantee.

We need to see the offensive line fare better against top-tier defensive lines in the Big Ten and we just didn’t see that against Nebraska on Saturday night. It was disappointing, especially since Walker III didn’t stand a chance, getting hit in the backfield almost instantly every time.
