Sitting at 3-0 with a Week 4 battle against an unpredictable Nebraska team, Michigan State football is looking to maintain the status of “the most surprising team in the Big Ten.”

The Spartans weren’t expected to start the season this hot and many people even had them at 1-2 after three games with losses to defending Big Ten West champ Northwestern on the road and at Miami as well. Instead, they beat Northwestern by 17 and Miami by 21, leading to an impressive start that has showcased a rejuvenated offense.

Nebraska comes to town on Saturday night hoping to upset the No. 20 Spartans, but will Michigan State take care of business?

Our staff weighs in with some final score predictions.

Connor Muldowney: Nebraska fans seem to think that they’re going to mop the floor with the Spartans but that’s not going to be the case. Michigan State and Nebraska will play this one close and it’ll be back-and-forth for most of the way. Adrian Martinez is going to keep the Cornhuskers in this game but Kenneth Walker III will have a big day with three touchdowns and Payton Thorne will remain mistake-free once again.

Final Score: Nebraska 27, Michigan State 34

Carter Landis: Nebraska is tough and will play hard, but they don’t have the talent to hang with Michigan State. As long as MSU can keep Adrian Martinez in the pocket and force some turnovers, this game should be over by the fourth quarter.

Final Score: Nebraska 20, Michigan State 31

Jack Williams: Nebraska has played both of their Power Five opponents close, losing to both Illinois and Oklahoma by a single score. With The Woodshed packed, I see Michigan State having an easier time here than those teams. Nebraska’s run game has been far from consistent, making offense in general extremely difficult. The smart pick here is to take MSU by a wide margin.

Final Score: Nebraska 13, Michigan State 34

Stephen Robb: Nebraska has had MSU’s number for the last many years. However, the Spartans now have Mel Tucker and he has them focused. This is a game that will decide where MSU can go this season. Nebraska has a bad offensive line and MSU will exploit it.

Final Score: Nebraska 21, Michigan State 35
