Who saw this start to the season coming for Michigan State football?

After going 2-5 last season in Mel Tucker’s first year, the Spartans have already surpassed their win total with a 3-0 record and a win over No. 24 Miami on the road. With the win, Tucker recorded his fourth victory as an underdog at Michigan State which is an impressive accomplishment.

Now his Spartans welcome in Nebraska to “The Woodshed” on Saturday night for one of the biggest games Spartan Stadium has seen in the past five years. The Spartans are looking to get to 4-0 for the first time since 2015 and a win over a surprisingly decent Nebraska team would go a long way.

Will the Spartans take care of the 2-2 Cornhuskers? Let’s get bold.

3. Jayden Reed has 100 receiving yards

The connection between Jayden Reed and Payton Thorne has been one of the many bright spots for the Spartans this season and their friendship has been well-documented. That strong connection is going to continue on Saturday evening as Reed eclipses 100 receiving yards for the second time this season.

Although Reed does have the best receiving game of any Spartan wideout this season and leads the team in receiving yards, Thorne has done a really solid job of spreading the ball around to different receivers. He’s going to focus on his main target on Saturday night and Reed will take advantage of some mismatches in the secondary.

Reed has yet to catch more than five passes in a game this year but he’ll have seven receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown. This connection will take center stage against Nebraska.
